Photos on TV

A guide to sharing pictures

Photos on TV

Get your favorite pictures onto the big screen. Choose a method that fits the TV, the phone and the network you have.

Use AirPlay or Google Cast if your TV supports it and your devices are on the required network. Use two online browsers for selected photos when you want to skip finding a compatible receiver.

Compare device compatibility, network setup, control of the sequence and whether the screen crops the picture. Check whether you are sharing an album, a single item or the whole phone screen.

Compare the options

AirPlay

Use it for Send from an iPhone to a compatible Apple TV or smart TV.

Use the compatible receiver and network setup Apple specifies. This is a simple choice when both are already ready.

Google Cast

Use it for Send selected photos from a supported app to a compatible receiver.

Both devices generally use the same Wi-Fi. Check for the Cast control in the app and choose the intended screen.

USB or a TV photo app

Use it for A local, repeated album or offline playback.

Check supported image formats and ordering. The TV remote or app typically owns the controls.

Browser to browser

Use it for A chosen set of photos and slideshow control from a separate device.

Both devices need internet access. Choose Fit to keep the whole image or Fill to cover the screen with some cropping.

Working example · V U This

Best fit for a quick slideshow across different networks

Open V U This in the display browser and pair a phone or laptop. Choose your pictures, show the first one and advance manually or start the slideshow. You can use a separate internet connection for the controller. Use AirPlay or Google Cast when the equipment is already set up and that route meets your needs.
